Unemployment claims rise again
Washington, DC, United States (AHN) – First-time jobless claims rose back up but remained below the critical 400,000 mark during the week ending Nov. 19.
Initial claims for unemployment benefits had dipped to a 7-month low during the previous week.
Some 393,000 claims were filed by newly jobless Americans, up by 2,000 from the 393,000 claims filed the week before.
The less volatile four-week moving average of first time claims fell by 3,250 to 394,250.
Department of Labor officials said the total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending Nov. 5, the most recent week for which such data is available, was 6,728,652, a decrease of 44,608 from the previous week.
